A Simple, Common-Sense Parenting Program Which Promotes Positive and Appropriate Behavior
The Parent Coach Plan is a home-based child discipline program which empowers parents and guides them through a simple process designed to improve their children’s behavior.
This unique program, written by Chris Theisen, is a fantastic resource for parents and educators alike. It includes easy to use forms that enable parents to determine behavioral concerns of their children and appropriate goals for addressing those concerns. The Parent Coach Plan also includes a point sheet, calendar, and contract for rewards and consequences which, when all used together, make up the foundation of the program.
The second portion of the plan consists of a variety of extremely helpful parenting information pages, including Running an Effective Family Meeting, Discipline Techniques and Guidelines for Using Time-Out. All of the information is presented in a very user-friendly and easy-to-follow manner!
Section three of the program includes a brief but highly useful lesson in the use of coping skills. Children can learn the steps to problem-solving as well as how to use relaxation techniques, thought-stopping (The Stop Sequence), self-talk, and self-soothing techniques, as well as a few others.
Finally, the last section of the plan consists of various parenting tools. These tools include a number of charts, worksheets, and other pages that parents can use “as needed.” Examples of parenting tools include a hygiene chart, parenting goals worksheet, broken rule assignment, daily journal (for children), and much more.
I found many benefits to this program. First of all, it’s inexpensive. Other programs that can be found online can cost in the hundreds of dollars, but The Parent Coach Plan cost me less than $20!

Other positives about this program are that it truly is easy to use and it has so far proven effective! I wouldn’t recommend this program if you have a child with severe behavioral problems (leave that to the professionals) but if you are in need of a simple, inexpensive product that will help you manage your child’s problematic behaviors, then The Parent Coach Plan is just what you need!
